You're welcome!❤️
It’s flaMENCO not flaMINGO
Yes I know. Lol but I will still say it my way🤣🤣
Hey thanks ! I had forgotten how to do half that stuff. I am in my 70's and I forget more things than I used to. Thank you again for the great video !!! Great Job My Friend ! I love my 12 fret guitars ! That is a beautiful Gibson !
Thanks so much! So glad you are listening in❤️
The leather strap looks good ,I prefer the fabric strap with a plastic buckle, the Other thing to watch is the strap coming off the pin,I put on a rubber ring that goes over the top, have a nice day Cindy
Strap locks are a good idea! I have even made them out of an old credit card😀. Thanks❤️
The shoelace trick.
Do you mean the tie on at the nut? Or are you referring to another option?😀
I use a leather thong attached to the keyhole, knotted and put that on the strap pin. It frees up the girth on the pin
Thanks for sharing 😀
Maybe they have to use a bigger bullit to shoot the bull 🐃 😂 I used a branding iron to widen it ... (and decorate the belt a bit ...)
That sounds like it would work 😀. Thanks for the tip.
That's EXACTLY how I adjust my Levys!
It works 😀
Thank you for sharing your strap with us.I hope you have a great day.
Thank you! You too!😀
Love the way you explain these things. Some instructors make things seem complicated. You make them seem simpler and doable. Thanks. I’m really enjoying your channel!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you❤️
To soften straps, you can get leather softener or even use hand lotion (which I learned from a man who has made and sold leather guitar straps to sell for years) - the lotion may darken the strap a tad after it dries. The man then said to rub the strap back and forth on a table leg or something sturdy to break in the leather fibers. Works very well most of the time, though I have a strap that refuses to soften - the hide must have been extra tough lol. 😂 🤷🏼♀️ 🐮 💪🏻 The first time I tried to figure out a leather strap with the same tail, I felt like hiring a basket weaver to help. It seems I got it right in the end, but I couldn’t tell you how I managed that feat. It was purely accidental, lol. I also don’t like strap buttons that have the pickup jack within them. Aside from being much larger and tough to get straps onto, it’s just awkward if you want to unhook a strap because then you have to yank the cord out to do it. And worse yet, that means the weight of the guitar is anchored to the end pin and putting pressure against the electronics rather than hanging from a button with no electronics that can potentially break with time. I wish L.R. Baggs and others who do this sort of combo endpin-strap button would at least give a choice to have a separate strap and smaller strap button. Why do they think hanging a strap off that giant monstrosity is a better idea?!
Or they need to redesign the attachment that screws on to the jack. It’s too wide and does not adapt to a heavy leather easily. Now that we solved that problem 🤣🤣
YES!!!!! What do you do with that strappy thing 😆😂🤣🤪😩😂😅🤣 I made and ate a cherry pie while you fixed up the strap!!! Just kidding 😄- those type of straps are sometimes confusing! Great practical video Cindy!!
Thanks😀🤣
I like the battery access near the end pin also. Couple of my guitars have that set up. You have a great day also Cindy ! 🎸🎸🎸
Thanks, you too!😄
Good morning ! 🎸🎸🎸
Good morning!🌞
Thanks for the strap advice and pin placement. I have one guitar that wouldn't balance well it's strap. I wrapped the strap (where it rests on my shoulder) with that brown wrap used for sprain/bandage (gauze) because it's sticky to solve the problem and hold the guitar in place
That’s good that you found a solution. Perhaps there is a strap that is already padded. Or car seat belt padding might work too. Thanks for watching 😀
For acoustics I use Roc-Loc on my straps. It works on any strap button, quick clip on and off.
Those strap loc systems are very nice. Thanks. ❤️
It Will bunch up unless that adjuster loop piece is at the end slot. Thread from the end you want then loop the tail back down over top, entering last slot and adjuster piece before the tail goes to guitar. Good mental exercise you can use the brain power to remember the next chord!
Definitely a good mental exercise 🤣. Thanks for sharing your method ❤️
Thank you! :) 😂 Useful info. God bless you and keep you safe on your road trip. Have fun! Ps... I'm on a 3 day trip away 45 min away from my home city. No agenda. Brought my guitar and hope to find some fellow musicians.... and maybe fish.
Sounds great! I use to love fishing…Did not catch a lot but it sure was fun. Hope you find those musicians too❤️
7 chords are cool thanks for showing us them😎
Glad you like them! Thank you too❤️
that was nice , thanks Cindy
You are so welcome. Thank you too❤️
Those chords are absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you, my musical friend!!!
Glad you like them! Thank you too❤️
Thank you. Just bought this in mint for my partner. I'm a pro player for 20+ yrs. She's going to love it! Great review and nice playing!
Now that’s a nice gift! Great choice❤️
Excellent intro. My fingers were not made for a lot of these shapes. By the way, I can’t fret a bass note with my thumb, ever, not if the rest of the chord has to be clean. Works in progress.
Thanks for sharing ❤️
My favorite chord too! Thanks to James Taylor!
James Taylor - definitely a favorite ❤️
Nice video - I heard more volume with the Tonebar! Nice to see a fellow player of the PRS mahogany instrument - love mine!
The PRS is surprisingly a nice player
I love altered 7 chords but Major add 9 goes nice with your Maj7 or Maj9 😊❤
Thanks for the tip❤️
@@guitarnotions 🎸🎸🎼💗
Again. You hit my understanding of chords right where I need it. Thanks. I did a little homework to figure out the Roman numerals of the key of A major, as that helps me understand where each chord is in the progression. I know some run away from theory, but I like it as it allows me to learn a progression in one key and then use it in another.
Wonderful! It’s good to find the system that works❤️
❤ I needed a fresh start... this was quite simply BRILLIANT 👏 Thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you to for listening in!❤️
Love this lesson thank you 🙏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!❤️
Very nice!
Thanks!❤️
I have a few faves, but along those lines I really love an Asus2. I have been using Amaj7 a lot lately, so maybe there’s a new favorite in the works! We both can’t be wrong! I love an Am7 and an A7 to go along with Amaj7. 😂😂😂 I also like to play Dmaj7 up at the second fret. Great suggestions for chords to complement Amaj7! I’ll give them a try later! Btw, if you like unique jazzy chords, look up an artist named Laufey. She’s a really talented guitarist and singer. I’ve tried to play some of her songs. I have to simplify some of her chords to be able to play along, but it’s a great challenge to try keeping up! Anyway, you’re using a similar chord progression that she uses in one of her songs. That’s why I figured I’d suggest you check her out in case you’ve never heard of her.
Yes I will check her music out. Thanks for sending the suggestion 😀
Guitar store for your journey MassStreetMusic Lawrence KS is a great guitar store. 30 minutes West of KC They carry Collings, Martins, Vintage Martins and other fine quality guitars, both acoustic & electric. Very knowledgable luthiers You will need to ask to see the vintage Martins
Thanks for sending the store info. I put it on my list. I will be working on the actual journey soon. It will be nice if it is nearby ❤️
Hi I've been watching you lately and I find the videos interesting. What I would like to see is the chores down the neck that you played in the intro
Great suggestion! I will work on a way to explain it. Thanks a bunch❤️
I really look forward to your daily videos!! They are so calming as well as educational ❤ we are heading up to Rockingham Maine in 2 weeks so I’m going to try to find a mom and pop guitar store along the way too!
So cool! Hope you have a great time. There is a store up that way I would like to visit but not sure how close it is to where your headed. “buckdancers” is one… they have been in business 45 years
@@guitarnotions I’ll look for it! Thanks for letting me know👍🏻😊
Thankyou so much for your lessons, they are really helpful. Playing guitar is really good to keep my79 year old brain and my fingers working.. You make things easy to pick up which I cant always do with other teachers, so thanks again
Great to hear! It’s never too late to learn and you are proof!! ❤️
I am just learning chords and enjoy being able to improv or noodle a bit to just get something nice to hear. It's cool to explore including the movable shapes and notes to add in taking a finger off a string or shifting. So far Dm is my fav adding a third fret e or open string e to shift. A strum gentle of a Em ignoring the sixth string.
That's great! You will never get bored giving some of your practice ttine to explore. Enjoy the learning- it’s a lifetime pursuit 😀
Also - have you any thoughts Yamaha guitars in general? A friend of mine swears they are great guitars, but I have never played one.
It would not surprise me if they have a Yamaha guitar that’s absolutely fantastic. When I was young, the Yamaha guitar was a desirable purchase. I’m not sure why they became less popular because they made really nice guitars. And now on their high and Yamaha I’ve played a few and they are absolutely beautiful, so yes, can be really nice. Instruments, but I would play it first before I purchased.
Yamaha is the top instrument manufacturer in the world. Fantastic concert grade pianos and flutes, top jazz and rock keyboards, mixing boards, stereo receivers, you name it. All top notch. Especially their classical guitar lineup. For acoustic guitars, handmade LLs, new folk line FG and FS, Red Label, and the F800 series that so many players strum their first notes on and last for years. And electric Revstars, Pacificas, and SAs are great as well.
@@CameraLaw thank you! Have you heard of the Transacoustic line? No need for pick up apparently
@@cheryldavidson-yo1et I've not played a transacoustic, but have heard good things. There are two levels, the higher one, the "L", is Yamaha's Luxury line, with an LL (dread-ish) and an LS (OM) are hand made in Japan, so one of those would be my pick. Here is a comprehensive review of the lower priced line, from a couple years ago: ua-cam.com/video/3o9WZd6DUO0/v-deo.htmlsi=DeAdMGWijmBcMDWV
@@CameraLaw thank you so much!
Thank you Cindy. Makes sense of it all! I’ve read and heard multiple views on the CAGED system, but it seems simply to me. But I have a simple mind 😜
Thanks a bunch❤️
You can try to play Amaj⁷ to the C#m⁷ ... slide over Cm⁷ to Bm⁷ then back up to the barred Dm⁷ (on 5th) and E⁷ completing with Asus A
Nice. Thanks for the tip😄❤️
Every chord has its beauty in the context it is used ... combined with me whistling or singing brings out the magic ... I love the diminished chords because they are the connecting bridges in chord-progression ...
Whistling is good😀. Thanks!
@@guitarnotionsand never forget the 'sacred' or 'secret' chord E⁷ ... that has to do with the tuning of the Lyra of King Saul ...
@@guitarnotions they say I have a very beautiful (almost birdlike) pure whistle ... I practice my breathing with playing the didgeridoo ... but then again you can't play guitar that way 🤣 This also has strengthen my singing ...
Best explanation of CAGED that I ever seen. Thank you for your stepwise approach to teaching, and not assuming too much existing knowledge of the listener. Cementing the basics really enhances and expands the potential for learning.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
I have been playing guitar (even professionally for a short span a mere couple of lifetimes ago) for over 50 years, and I never had anyone demonstrate to me the practical application of the CAGED system as clearly as you have here. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful. Thanks a bunch! ❤️
Bm9 A str. second fret then open D then the G and B strings fretted at the 2nd fret, Then the E7 you showed, then a variant of the C#minor 7th could be fret 4th fret on E and A strgs. fret D string at 2nd fret and 4th fret on the G.... Then the F#minor 7 you showed .... this could be a couple things I can think of like jeepers creepers for one..... the Bm9 sounds like the Dmaj7th also the C#m7th sounds like Amaj9th
This is a good way to explain. Thanks❤️
@@guitarnotions Last two chords at the end have different names but are really having the function of the Amaj, I like the sound of the major 7th to the major six on the same chord basically the C #min7 and the F#m7 are just as good as the A going from Amaj9 to Amajor 6, so its one of those 2 5 1s
Great lesson🙂 I hope you get to play a few songs with the gang at the Acoustic Shop🙂
Glad you liked it❤️
Wonderful lesson, thank you! I recently bought a book of classic chord progressions that shows all the inversions up the neck to make the progressions sound prettier.
Awesome, what is the books’ name?
You are an absolute blessing.
Thank you very much❤️
I love the big E chord.
E is a great chord. Love the E5 too!❤️
My favorite chord at the moment is Cadd9. It sounds beautiful to my ear, plus there are several other chords that sound good with it that I can play on the same two frets! Cadd9, D, Em, G5 ... Easy, lazy heaven!😄 p.s. I like "chatty." Keep it coming!
Thanks for sharing! And the vote for “chatty”❤️
I live in Oklahoma I get up early drink a couple of cups of coffee and wait until around 8:00 eager to watch your videos. This was a really good one for me. Thanks for all you do.
